Rand Paul, and his father before him, are consistent. They are consistently wrong about a number of issues but at least they are a known quantity and stick to their guns and you could even say principles. It isn’t bad having a wrong argument and wrong speech, the whole notion of freedom of speech in the US is based on it. I’m not an American nor a Free Speech absolutist and, as a Jew, disagree with America on the issue of Hate Speech. Still, I understand the American point of view of things but I am a firm believer in the paradox of intolerance towards the intolerance and where tolerance of the intolerant leads.

In foreign policy, the Pauls were fairly isolationist and not fans of foreign aid. So Rand Paul’s opposition to funding Ukraine’s defense would be rather natural anyway. Now we can speculate to other motives and times he has discussed various vaccine/mask restrictions that Russia has known to be spreading stories on social media about in order to sow dissent in the US. Still, his best defense is his consistency in the issue of foreign aid and that provides plenty of cover.

Others like Donald Trump Jnr, Majorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and Kevin Sorbo have been accused of parroting Kremlin talking…
