The best chance to end this madness
Right now, Ukrainian and Russian soldiers are bunkered down in Eastern Ukraine as the King of war, artillery, takes centre stage. Everyone seems focused on this and, at a snail pace, the undenialable advance of Russia.
Russia has an advantage here, it is next to its supply lines and rail network and it has weight of numbers. Still, the Ukrainians are getting better equipment day by day and the casualties Russia is incurring for every metre it gains are horrific. Stalinesque. But like Stalin, who lost several times the troops of the Germans, it doesn’t matter- more warm bodies can be found in the poorer regions of Russia and replace those who have fallen.

They are expensive to produce, were not stockpiled in sufficient numbers prior to the war, and can only be manufactured at a set pace. Many of these weapons require access to western tech and semi-conductors, not just any any semi-conductor will do. This limits Russia even further.
