The great Gaza deportation. Trump’s brain fart

History certainly rhymes and we have seen this show before.

Let’s discuss Trump’s statement and he is correct about one thing. But he is not doing it from a point of empathy. Trump wouldn’t know Empathy if she slapped him in the face for groping her. Empathy is a mystery to Orange Palpatine.

What he is correct about is that Northern Gaza is unlivable. I mean, it is just not there. Removing the rubble would be an enormous task even for the US, let alone some anemic UN agency or private contractors. Firstly, the security situation would be a nightmare. Secondly, there is so much unexploded ordinance, rounds to cook off and booby traps and IEDs- it would probably be a decade of kids losing limbs on a regular basis.

The Palestinians know that after 1948, being outside the country doesn’t mean you can return to the country- regardless of whether you believe Israeli or Palestinian narratives. Any move enmass to relocate people from Gaza to neighbouring countries has an excellent chance of being a permanent thing.

History has not been kind to forced population transfers. The foundation of India and Pakistan, had millions move and hundreds of thousands or even north of a million, die.
