The complete picture is in 2005 Israel evacuated all Israelis from Gaza, making the place free of Jews for the first time in almost 3000 years. There was no blockade, there was the free flowing of people who could come into Israel to work, study or have medical treatment. The people of Gaza enjoyed far more than the people of West Bank, having zero Israeli presence. Gaza was not a country but a free city-state with a coastline full of resorts and many industries left behind by the Israelis.

Then in 2007 HAMAS overthrew the Palestinian Authority government by throwing its workers off roof tops and launched 10000 rockets at Israel in 2 years.

And that was when restrictions came up, Israel fought back and we havebthe situation today.

It is 100% on HAMAS and there can be no 2 state solution and Palestinian state with HAMAS in charge of Gaza. Yet opinion poll after opinion poll dome by the Palestinians themselves, shows HAMAS has wide support, indeed numbers any western government could dream of, and would beat the Palestinian Authority in all of the territories if any election was held.

No war in the history of mankind has been won by a proportionate response. And before HAMAS killed over 1000 Israeli civilians, they knew what the response would be.

So where in comes to Gaza, it is an occupation of HAMAS' own making, which is a very different argument to the West Bank and it serves no purpose to conflate them. The people of Gaza could have enjoyed complete freedom as a city-state and been prosperous. They had the means, they had won. But I see no great focus to remove them from within Gaza or without.
