So much wrong with what you said. There was a Jewish presence in the land always, and constant attempts to move back - even while being second class citizens with very little rights. It’s our ancestral home, half our mitzvot can only be practiced there. Our calendar is based there. We pray in the morning “next year in Jerusalem”. We don’t need political Zionism being invented in the 1800s, we would be there in numbers anyway. Ottoman census had Jerusalem majority Jewish half a century before Zionism. The whole basis of our religion is to live in the promised land. We don’t need you or anyone else’s permission to do so. It is a safe haven insomuch as it is the place where we decide our fate and not subject to the whims of rulers above us.
