One of the biggest lies in history was that Muslims and Jews lived side by side in peace. We were second class citizens treated like dogs and unable to defend ourselves when the pogroms came. My own family left Hebron in Palestine in 1517 due to a pogrom there. All through the 1800s, including a massacre again in Hebron in 1835, we were treated like crap in Palestine, just like we treated in other parts of the Arab world. There were occasional times of tolerance towards us, especially early on, but make no mistake there is a reason 55% of Israel's Jews came as refugees from Arab countries. While it is true we were treated better than Europe, where we were killed more often, it was never rainbows and unicorns in the Arab world. We were hated long before Zionism.
