Israel has been there and done that and it hasn't worked out for them every time they have tried. Hezbollah is much better equipped and organized than HAMAS. Lebanon is also a sovereign state while Gaza is not, the ramifications are much higher. Until October 7, HAMAS was an annoyance but Hezbollah kept Israelis up at night. As I said, what is happening in Gaza is a show of force to send a clear message of what the IDF could do to Lebanon if it had to. The Lebanese government also understands this and is trying to rein in the rhetoric and do its best to prevent a big Hezbollah response. I don't believe Israel or Lebanon want to go to war but Hezbollah is the one that needs to be convinced. So far it is largely working.
