I could do Cockney Russian, lowland Scot Russian and Hampshire Russian. My accent nye chisti, basically I have a Kavkas accent from living in Krasnodar ans Georgia. I can also speak gopnik and kubanski(70% Ukrainian- Kuban Cossack language). Just tried and yes I can do a Russian aussie accent too.
Funny thing is, at work I heard a guy who sounded absolutely Italian. I asked him where he was from and I said Italy. He told me East...I tried balkans, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Iran Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. After that I told him I gave up and I said I knew he want Russian. He said yes I am Russian from Moscow....and I spoke to him in Russian and my accent was way better. Turns out he moved to Australia in 1994 and he moved to an area full of Greeks and Italians..so he got their accent in English.
By the way, a good student will be able to mimic and adopt an accent but it isn't that necessary to do so and most don't. I could teach someone for 10 years and they would still have their old accent. Americans or Brits teaching them would encounter the same.
But any Russian that came to my class who had been taught by a Scot- you could immediately tell. And it was hilarious and often the student was oblivious.
