fighting terrorists in populated areas who have tunnels is hard. Fighting a tank and air battle is easy and is Israel's forte.
1) Israel would love Egypt to take control of the Gaza strip. They tried to give it back in 67, they tried to give it back in the 90s. Israel would absolutely love Egypt to control it and be held responsible for any rocket attacks that come from it.
2) The Sinai is rich in oil and Israel gave it back to Egypt as part of their peace agreement. Israel would be more than happy to take it back.
3) How many times does Egypt have to lose- so far 3 times- before they understand not to go to war with Israel?
4) None of the above are likely as it is more likely a show of force to stop Palestinians entering Egypt. Not because they care about Palestinians leaving where they come from- but rather their experience with them in the past and HAMAS being Muslim brotherhood- as likely a force that would destabilise the ruling Junta. Also tanks look pretty on camera.
