Energy Transfer(ET) Last chance to grab this and await a future 11%+ yield
I love midstreamers for a play on oil and gas with dependable income that is often fee based, on volume, not on oil/gas prices.
There are some excellent companies in this space from MPLX, KMI, AM, EPD and more- all provide generous distributions but none is quite as undervalued as ET.
They differ in size, debt levels, and product mix-some are more natural gas plays, most are a mix of natural gas, oil pipelines and refined products. Some companies like MPLX have strong shareholder ownership by their parent oil company( Marathon). AM, likewise, has a similar relationship with Anterro Resources. There are some benefits to these arrangements but also some risks- for instance if the parent company decides to reabsorb the midstreamer.
An important point for investors- MLP partnerships often require different tax forms and consideration must be made whether to be in a retail or retirement account. Speak to your accountant for the best advice.
Energy Transfer
Energy is probably the most divesified midstreamer, with income generation from 5 different sectors, with reliance not on sector, unlike some. It has 120,000 miles of pipeline and assets and business in 41 states.
