Don’t mean to drone on, the Ivan Khurs failed attempt to join the submarine fleet.

Russian Navy attacked again by a country with no Navy

Sometimes in war, and this war more than most, you have the WTF moments.

We have a Ukrainian version and a Russian version of what transpired, as well as plenty of speculation.

The Ivan hearse, I mean Khurs, is an intelligence ship that decided it was best served in the southern part of the Black Sea. You know, the part nowhere near Ukraine. Only 90 miles to Turkiye.

Here you could probably imagine Dimitri and Anton having a smoke on the stern, talking about cars, women and their new STIs from their last port visit.

What you don’t expect is Ukrainian seaborne drones coming up to kiss the hull and aiming for that very stern where Dimitri and Anton are pondering poor life choices.

But we know the attack occurred. Even the Russians admit that. Stories abound that the ship was desperate to visit the Moskva on the sea floor and was under tow at 0.8 knots. Russia, for its part, showed photos of the Ivan Khurs steaming into Sevastopol, apparently unharmed. Mind you, I don’t especially trust their photo skills.
