As someone who has spent 15 years in former Soviet Union countries, 7 years of it in Russia, and Russian being the language of my household- meaning I get all their news sources as well both official and unofficial- Roland you are exactly right. You get it, a great deal of Russians I know get it. Of my 25 Russian students, only three are actively trying to stay in the country(many have already left) and only two support the war. Still, it’s not a perfect sample size as my students are specialists not village Russians plugged into Rossiya 1 TV channel. The brain drain alone from this will take generations to fix.
