Armenia and Azerbajian: Are we here again?

The carousel of death keeps turning.

I try not to be emotional about such things and give a dry and hopefully objective view- but when it comes to the Caucaus where the blood runs hot- it is hard.

A full caveat, I am an Australian Jew living in the Republic of Georgia. Married to a Georgian born Armenian. Before living here in Georgia, I lived in Krasnodar, Russia- otherwise known as little Yerevan.

Between years in Russia, I lived in Istanbul in Turkiye, and prior to all that I lived in Uzbekistan.

It is a twisted world of enemy of my enemy is my friend or maybe my enemy too.

Let me give you some examples:

Georgia- love/hate relationship with Armenia as both contest to be inventors of the same things, especially cuisine. There is also some rivarly because Armenians were often the merchant class and held similar roles, and subsequent jealousies, like what Jews in Europe faced. Georgia also conquered Armenia in the past and some Armenia units helped Abhazia against Georgia, which Georgians certainly haven’t forget. To complicate things more, Georgia is heavily dependent on Azerbajian gas. In addition, when Georgia has not behaved in a way Azerbajian deems fit, Azerbajiani forces close off the disputed…
