A lightning raid , a bigger version of October 7, would cause some chaos but could not be resupplied and would be cut off easily and eliminated. Not without some loss of Israeli lives. It would be a nasty punch in the nose.
Your premise that Israel won't drop bombs on its own has to be met with similar weight to the allegations of the IDF firing on its own, accusations of Hannibal doctrine etc.
Of course the day after that little bloody nose would be Israel's response. And wars with Hezbollah and Hamas in the past have taught Israel one thing. Don't try and softly softy go in in teams to booby trapped urban environs. Just hit them from the air and use artillery and flatten it to Carthage and then walk in.
Do you want Lebanon to look like Gaza? Indeed, I think a lot of the response to Gaza has been Israel telegraphing what they would do to Lebanon if Hezbollah escalates. Hezbollah could absolutely hurt Israel, though I think your idea is a folly tactically, but much of Lebanon would be a wasteland in response. That doesn't stop Hezbollah trying, it is questionable how much they care about Lebanon anyway. Just like Gaza to Hamas.
